Tirupputkuzhi was the halloed residence of Sri Yadavaprakasa, the first
perceptor of Sri Ramanuja, the exponent of Visistathwaitha Philosophy.
Sri Ramanuja and his cousin Sri Govinda took their primary learning here.
Savants like Sri Pinbazhakiya Perumal Jeeyar (who authored Guruparampara
Prabhavam) also a native of thi place, Koil Annan, Erumpiappa and Prathivati
Bayangaram Annan have sung the greatness of Sri Vijayaragava. Swami Desikar
has rendered a beautiful stotra, Paramaarthasthuthi, in praise of Sri
Vijayaragava. Tirumangai Azhwar has praised this place and Lord Samara
Pungavan (the sanskrit name for Sri Vijayaragava) in his Periya Tirumozhi
and Periya Tirumadal.
