Your website is beautifully done and very informative. Unfortunately i perceived a common mistake which is often commited by Indians trying to show the "superiority" of their culture over that of the West. In one of your writings on the Grihasta asram you make statements to the effect that any indian could not imagine a previous husband of a woman showing up at the birthday party of her child of a latter husband nor could a westerner imagine a couple celebrating their 5oth wedding anniversary. WRONG YAAR! I have travelled all over the world and there are plenty of westerners (americans too) celebrathing their 50th and in India there are many women with second or third husbands, though one may not like to admit it. Even so, i find that if the West has ex-husbands who are happy to attend the functions of their ex-wife's family members well, that just goes to show how warm, open and loving such individuals must be and the society from which they come. I find Americans to be much more ACCEPTING of people for who they are than are Indian counterparts who expect people to be someone they just are not. This world was created by Bhagavan to be a resevoir of contradictions, good and bad, and thus you find good and bad everywhere in the world. India is by no means an example of only the good. Please reply to me personally at my email address. I would like your opinion on this matter.
Thankyou
Priyatama

Pranamams,
I bumped into this journal by chance & lo what a surprise!I have just started reading the journal. My first reaction is:
The contents are extremely valuable to every srivaishnava. Would it not be a good idea (atleast in the Indian context) to consolidate all the contents in a book format and distribute it to young children. This I feel is quite necessary, since there is an identity crisis amongst Hindus in general and srivaishnavas in particular.I would like to receive a posting of the Saranagathi journal.

Adiyen,

I am a retired in 1990,and follow Ahobhilam Mutt.So delighted I am I have no word to express my gratitude and appreciation for this yeoman task undertaken. With all that Desikar has done, all the contribution will look too small and perhaps people like me have to take several births to understand what all Desikar has left for us Venkataramanan

Dear Sri Venkatesh Congratulations and Thanks for an excellent job of making the Journals available. Also, your new feature listing the TOC and provding the hyperlink is much appreciated. One suggestion--in the SriVaishnava Acharya Page, under the thaniyans, one for Swami Desikan is glaringly missing. I imagine that you have listed the lineage for one kalai. However, with all the sincere and tireless on-going efforts by many SriVaishnavas ncluding you, to integrate the two kalais, it is requested that we name it Acharyas Thaniyans and list them based on the chronology of the Acharyas, independent of the kalais.

The journal is well-organized and nicely compiled. It contains excellent information for serious students of our Sampradayam. The analysis and insights especially from Sri VS and yourself are delightful to read. More can be done by including a calendar containing important dates (Azhwar and Acharya TN, important festivals, Sravana Vratham, Ekadasis etc). Additional information pertaining to Sandyavandanam-especially detailing the significance of the rituals involved may be added. Pictures of Sri Ramanujacharya, Swami Desikan, Azhwars, deities such as Lord Ranganatha, Varadaraja, Tiruvenkatan, Lakshmi Narasimhar, Lakshmi Hayagrivar, Rama and Krishna will make for a delightful inclusion. An audio file containing a one verse salutation for each deity is something to think about. I would also like to see some more discussion of Vedic texts-in particular the Sama Vedam. It would also be helpful to get a discussion of relevant Azhwar verses as pertainent to the Vedas. It is wonderful to read the notes on the Pancharatra Agama from Sri Krishnamachari. It would be nice to have a similar series on Vaikanasa Agama and engage in a comparative study of the two Agamas. These are some thoughts that come to mind. Best Wishes, Murali

It is an excellent kaimkaryam. However, May I request your goodselves to release the jounal "on- dot " every fortnight? (may be on Ekadashi day)? May I also request the board to add some tit bits (some tips/advice/some quotes form acharyas- some slokas at the bottom of each page perhaps or somewhere) just to add some varieties. Since the board is a group of learned Srivaishnavas, may I request them to shift the content of some of posts to more like advice / suggestions for younger infant vaishnavas like us (like the importance of sandhyavandhanms- the Oordhva puNdrams- the anushtanghaL- reciting vishnu sahasranaamam- etc.. in short notes). A FAQ session also can be added for questions that one is afraid to ask Please figive aduyen if there is any apacharam committed.

A wonderful place to find our Purvacharya's works. To get a better source than this one can only read Tamil books. For a lay person to understand these contents, one has to come back to people like Sri Anbil Ramaswamy and Sri V Kannan for explanations. If possible, it may be a good idea to have multiple search indexes. For example, articles urging people to take Prapatti and giving reasons for getting Prapatti can be grouped together. Articles for Bhagavad anubhavam after Prapatti may be grouped toget er. In some cases like Paramapada Saupaanam, it may be difficult to separate the two. Therefore the alternate way would be to index it by Desika's works, Azhwar's works etc. adiyen jagan.
